First, from CNN, commentary on 20 ways Obama agrees with Bush. Who is "more of the same" now?

Then...I've been having lots of political conversations lately. I haven't done much of the talking, just more of the listening. I love listening to people, especially in such a tumultuous time. What are people thinking? How do people really feel apart from what the mainstream media is telling us?

At a Young Republicans social, I heard a lot from an "angry conservative" about healthcare. He brought up a good question. Why does your employer pick your healthcare for you? Why is that a good idea?

Over the weekend, I spent some time down South, where McCain-Palin signs abounded and I ran 13 miles around beautiful pecan orchards and farms (more on that later). But I had the privilege of meeting a real Southern boy who is also a big Obama supporter. Thankfully we were able to have a civil discussion over a wide range of topics. What I thought was cool was our total agreement against the bailout. Isn't that crazy? From such different viewpoints of the world, but we both oppose the bailouts. And we also agreed that McCain would do what needs to be done, if Obama were to lose. I was just amazed how similar we were, for being so different.

Then coming home yesterday, I had a good talk with my aunt. She had lots of questions...why isn't McCain making a bigger deal about ACORN? When is McCain going to turn up the heat? What is he waiting for? I didn't have any answers for her. I have many of those same questions. With the homestretch in sight, I feel like McCain's just not going in the right direction.

kinda funny

So this whole messy bailout thing...you have to admit there is a little something funny about it. Because fiscal conservatives & Republicans are saying no, while Democrats are siding with Bush's plan. Haha!!! I'm sorry...what is this argument about "more of the same"? Democrats siding with Bush. Oh man. Sidesplitter. I seriously laughed in my car for 5 minutes this AM.

I also heard this morning that thanks to Lindsey Graham (who actually read the bill, I applaud him), we now know that some of the repayment turned from the bailout will go to funding corrupt, fraudulent housing programs like ACORN. Whooppee!!! First, my tax dollars going to a mess that I had nothing to do with and is already crashing my retirement fund. And now, any repayment from that will go to fraudulent housing programs that benefit me and this nation in NO way.

I'm thinking about moving soon.

Pres Bush visits my street

Yeah, that's right. Too bad I wasn't home at the time. Pres. Bush dropped in to Atlanta yesterday and attended an event right down the road from my humble abode!

"Close to 200 people — including Gov. Sonny Perdue — attended the event at the home of Harrison Merrill, a local developer, just off West Paces Ferry Road."

The closest I got was stuck in a moving roadblock on 75N after work. SO FUN.

I listened to Monica Crowley this morning in response to Bush's speech. Her big point was that this is one of Bush's big defining moments. Yes, it's about N. Korea cooperating with talks, accepting our incentives, dismantling their nuclear program. But more so it is a warning shot to Iran. Iran, who won't cooperate, who continually blows the U.S. off. Well, as she put it, "all bets are off." U.S. diplomacy is working with N. Korea. What will Iran do now?

he makes me angry

I don't have time to really go into it but I just have to vent! Obama makes me so angry!

Bush goes over to Israel and gives a good speech. And Obama is so full of himself that he thinks the speech is all about him. It's not! Clearly he hasn't read it.

Then he has to go & "blast" (to use CNN's word) John McCain and Bush and tells Americans that they're not telling us the truth. He makes me so angry! He doesn't know what the truth is. He can't see past himself. The world revolves around him. Ugh. Makes me sick to my stomach. I don't understand how duped Americans can be to believe what he says.

Too little too late? I have been waiting for someone to come out & reeeally criticize the Democratic Congress for the mess we are in...thank you George W. Bush. After all, weren't they full of promises of change when they took over?

forgot the baldasty

Ok so I was going to write up a whole thing on media bias today. Then I forgot my Baldasty at home. I unfortunately do not have internet at home right now and thus cannot post from there. So I have to do it all at work...or a coffee shop. But I promise an intellectually stimulating post soon. haha

Instead, I thought I'd post this interesting little fight going on between Obama & McCain with a little moderating from Pres. G W Bush.

Here's how it went in my head:

Obama: There is no al Qaeda in Iraq. But if there is, then I would invade.
McCain: I have news for you boy! There is al Qaeda in Iraq. And it's called...al Qaeda in Iraq.
(I laugh here. McCain has such a way of communicating.)
Obama: There was no al Qaeda in Iraq until Pres Bush & McCain said there was al Qaeda in Iraq and invaded Iraq.
Bush: Um...have you been living in America for the past couple years? al Qaeda is pretty much everywhere. We're in Iraq now to stop them from building a base. Oh, and al Qaeda in Afghanistan is the same organization as al Qaeda in Iraq. Just in case there's any confusion there.
